Tennessee swung and missed on 5-star Edge target Elijah Rushing this past weekend, with the No. 1 overall Edge committing to his home state Arizona Wildcats.

You win some, you lose some. The Vols have had a strong offseason on the recruiting trail and will look to win big again with another Edge target, 4-star prospect Jayshawn Ross.

Ross hails from Kansas City, Missouri and dropped a top 5 of Tennessee, Oklahoma, Penn State, Nebraska and Michigan on Saturday.

He plays numerous positions for Liberty North HS and could contribute on the offensive side of the ball in college, but is forecasted as a defensive end/LB depending on the defensive system. Tennessee primarily prefers a 4-man front, so were he to commit (and there’s a long way to go) he would likely see time at defensive end.

Ross dropped his top 5 via his personal Twitter account Saturday:

Ross stands at 6-4, 220 pounds. he also plays basketball for NLHS. He’s considered to be the No. 8 prospect out of the state of Missouri.
