Josh Heupel’s program is set to put up some points, but now Tennessee has a key piece to help the defense, and you can bet Rodney Garner is smiling.

Southern Cal transfer Caleb Tremblay, a defensive lineman, is heading to Knoxville, he announced on social media. He played 3 seasons with the Trojans, so he’ll have one year of eligibility remaining thanks to the additional year of eligibility granted by the NCAA.

He originally transferred to USC in the spring of 2018 after he spent the previous year in junior college at American River Community College. He was injured in his first season at USC, but Tremblay emerged as a rotational defensive lineman in 2019 and 2020.

He left USC with 21 total tackles, 3.5 for loss, and a pair sacks in his career.

The former 4-star defensive lineman from Napa, California, played in 18 games for the Trojans. At the JUCO level, he had 44 tackles and 4 sacks, before he transferred to USC. In 2019 he played in 11 games, with 16 tackles and 2 sacks for the Trojans.

Tremblay is a 6-foot-5, 270-pounder.

Something that may have factored into his decision was the Trojans had a top 10 recruiting class, including a key recruit in Korey Foreman, a strongside defensive end that is ranked No. 1 overall.
