Bryce Thompson didn’t hear his name during the NFL Draft, but it didn’t take much time for him to land a deal in the NFL.

The New Orleans Saints are expected to sign the former Tennessee cornerback who was a three-year starter who posted eight career interceptions, Matt Zenitz of AL.com reported.

Thompson was projected by most outlets that rated prospects as No. 216 to 236 overall, and among cornerbacks, he was rated in the No. 28 to 35 range.

At Tennessee, Thompson finished his career with 32 games played and 28 starts for the Vols. He also forced 10 turnovers during his career with the eight picks and two forced fumbles.

The Irmo, South Carolina native may be remembered by Vols fans for being the first player in Tennessee history to wear No. 0 after he made the switch from No. 20 in the summer of 2020. The one-time South Carolina commit was a 4-star recruit and a top 10 prospect.

With the NCAA giving a free year of eligibility in 2020, Thompson left Tennessee after three years and with two years of eligibility remaining.

He finished the 2020 season with a career-best 36 tackles in just 10 games, notched a pair of interceptions, including one he returned for a touchdown against Vanderbilt, and also forced and recovered a fumble against Kentucky.
