Tennessee fans, we have some bad news for those of you who are seated firmly on the GRUMORS bandwagon.
The Jon Gruden to Rocky Top odds are now trending the wrong way, according to Vegas.
For the first time since Gruden’s name hit the board at Bet Online, the odds of him becoming Tennessee’s next head football coach are decreasing.
Gruden is now listed at +250, which means he’s still the heavy favorite to land the job, for what it’s worth, but that’s not quite as good as last week when he was sitting at +150.
Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen took an incredible leap from +2200 all the way to +800. Chip Kelly still sits at No. 2 with +450 odds, while Jeff Brohm, Les Miles and Mike Norvell have the next-best odds along with Mullen.
Does Vegas know something, or is all of this happening just because of the money flowing in?
You can decide for yourself. That’s the beauty of GRUMORS and coaching odds.
Here’s a full look at the latest odds, courtesy of Saturday Down South news desk editor Michael Bratton:

Funny thing is, there are names on this list they can simply remove, waste of space such as Lane Kiffin, Bobby Petrino, Peyton Manning, Mike MacIntyre, Tee Martin, Les Miles. Simply not happening, certainly not with Kiffin and Petrino.
Meanwhile there are some big names not even on here that should be. Gruden still the favorite and objective #1 first and foremost.
I cannot think of a worse choice than Gruden. What’s the appeal? That his wife was a UT cheerleader? This guy hasn’t coached in years, and as the prototypical “Type A” personality would likely chafe underneath a collegiate sports administration. Plus, who honestly sees Gruden putting up with the recruiting grind? If he’s hired, my bet is he’ll leave after a couple of years and once again leave the Vols in the lurch. Meanwhile, Mullen is a bona fide college coach who at Mississippi State has shown what he can do to fortify a program. Leave Gruden in the broadcast booth or on an NFL sideline. He’s a lot better suited to either of those locations.
While I wouldn’t complain if UT got Gruden, I agree with you that he doesn’t have a resume that screams “College Slam Dunk”. I would prefer Chip Kelley, Scott Frost, and/or Justin Fuente before Gruden. Yes, I do realize that any and all of the names in this list are probably long shots given UT’s recent history of hires.
Umm, he knows a thing or two about football, hence a super bowl ring. Celebrity status would be a hit for recruiting and you’d better believe he would have the money to get an elite staff. Why can’t he win in college and the NFL? Pete Carroll did.
Silly bammer… the little ego maniac walking y’alls side line isn’t a type A? LOL
Yeah, I find it hard to believe a Bammer REALLY cares about Tennessee getting the right hire so they don’t have to go through another search anytime soon.
You’re either A) worried about Gruden to Tennessee as a legit threat or B) Gruden said something mean about your mama….cousin….however that works in Alabama.
I don’t see Gruden’s appeal either, he won a superbowl of the back of Tony’s players and then left. He has literally had 1 good season in his coaching career.
LOL that funny silly gator. Syctris you should look before you post. He has and a helluva lot more than one good season jort boy.
Gruden to the Hill
Cousin Eddie isn’t leaving StarkVegas.
That’s it !!!! COUSIN EDDIE !!!!!!!
UT would be a step down from MSU at this point. Dan has built so much there why leave. Keep winning atleast 7 games/year with no pressure. He’s got it made.
Precisely
In no way shape or form is UT a step down from Mississippi State. Does he have much, much lower expectations at MSU? Of course as they’re happy with 7 or 8 wins. But that doesn’t make UT a step down. Idiotic comment aggie
Step down? lol thats cute…
Tennessee is Gruden or bust. I don’t think the fans are wanting to accept anyone but Gruden at this point.
This is not Vegas odds! this is an offshore betting site. Do you do any research at all???? This is the second straight article that is total BS. I am not saying who the coach will be, but this is extremely poor journalism.
Of course it’s poor journalism.
The UT job is a step down for Mullin and Gruden from their current gigs
So much dumb in everything you post. I feel sorry for people like you SevenT
Seven t just can’t help himself. If the mouth opens he spews dumb comments.
LOL
You are wearing orange glasses. UT will be back some day. This is UT’s Notre Dame moment.
