Steve Sarkisian is prepping for a new quarterback under center in Week 9 with Quinn Ewers reportedly out with an AC join sprain.
With Ewers down for the near future, both Arch Manning and Maalik Murphy will be taking reps at QB during practice.
A decision has not been made yet, but Sarkisian revealed Tuesday that Manning and Murphy will both get a ton of reps leading up to the game. If the game was being played before Saturday Murphy would be the starter, according to Sarkisian.
Sarkisian highlight how lucky Texas is to have the QB room it does.
“We’ll go through the week and Arch and Maalik will both get a ton of reps. If the game was being played today, Maalik would’ve started the game. Arch will be ready to go. Like I’ve said before, I’ve had a ton of confidence in Arch. I think it was a couple of weeks ago where he had a fantastic practice. I’m really encouraged by that. Coach Milwee has done a great job with both those guys. Not every school is as fortunate as we to have the quarterback room that we have.”
