East Tennessee State linebacker James Folks knows what it’s like to beat Vanderbilt. He has done it twice on two different teams 8 years apart. That’s right, college football has an 8th-year senior.

This past Saturday, ETSU traveled to Nashville and embarrassed the Commodores 23-3 in Clark Lea’s debut as VU head coach. The Buccaneers defense forced three turnovers from the Commodores and held them to only 85 rushing yards.

Amazingly, it is not the first time Folks has defeated a Vanderbilt head coach making his debut. In 2014, the Commodores lost at home to the Temple Owls 37-7. That game was former VU head coach Derek Mason’s debut. Folks was a true freshman with the Owls at that time.

Folks will be 26-years old this November.
