New details have emerged regarding the suspension of Alabama DB Tony Brown, and it’s bad news for the Crimson Tide.

Aaron Suttles of TideSports.com is reporting that Brown is facing an indefinite suspension from the NCAA, which Alabama has appealed and is “awaiting a decision.” Suttles’ report also states that the suspension “does not involve any institutional rules violations.”

Brown did not play in the Cotton Bowl and did not travel to the national championship game due to a violation of team rules. In January, Saban said that Brown was back with the team but faced future suspensions. At a March press conference, Saban said he would elaborate on the suspensions when he had “the final data” on the matter.

Brown primarily provided depth on defense and special teams in 2015 and was expected to take on a bigger role in 2016. In his two-year career, he has played in 26 games and made 26 total tackles.
