Les Miles was so happy to hear the news that 3-star quarterback Myles Brennan wanted to play for LSU that it brought him to tears, according to a report from the Sun Herald.

Brennan, who visited Baton Rouge last weekend, received a scholarship offer and committed to the Tigers on the spot, is the No. 22 pro-style QB from the recruiting class of 2017, per 247Sports. He’s the 12th-best prospect from the state of Mississippi.

“I just said, ‘Coach, I want to go ahead and shake your hand and tell you I’m going to go ahead and commit,'” Brennan said. “At that time, he just started screaming and tears started coming out of his eyes. He gave me a big ol’ hug. My parents started tearing up and crying because they didn’t know it was coming.”

All you have to do is take a quick glance at the stat sheet to know that Brennan is a big-time player. In two seasons as the starting gunslinger for St. Stanislaus, Brennan has completed over 66.7 percent of his pass attempts for 11,045 yards, 117 touchdowns to just 22 interceptions. And despite his “pro-style” tag, he’s collected 686 yards rushing and 14 more scores with his feet.

The Sun Herald reports that about 20 minutes into a two-and-a-half-hour conversation, coach Miles went ahead and became Brennan’s 16th offer.

“At that point I’m sitting there and right when he said that I wanted to get up and give him a hug. That was a pretty big moment,” Brennan said. “We talked for about two hours after that and the whole time I’m sitting there thinking, ‘did that really just happen?’

Brennan’s verbal has the potential to be a huge get for LSU, which has seen its fair share of struggles at the quarterback position since Zach Mettenberger left for the NFL following the 2013 season. The Tigers posted the SEC’s No. 9- and 7-ranked passer efficiency ratings in 2014 and ’15, averaging less than 180 yards passing in both years.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound Bay Saint Louis (MS) native chose LSU over California, Memphis, and many others.
