LSU football fans, this isn’t your most enjoyable college football poll Sunday.

Just a few weeks ago, you were among the top 5 teams in the country according to every major ranking. But after back-to-back losses — physical humiliations, really — by Alabama and Arkansas, you’re now tumbling.

The Tigers (7-2) still are inside the top 20, though. The Coaches Poll ranks LSU at No. 17, while the Associated Press also ranks the team at No. 17.

The bigger issue for coach Les Miles team, rather than worrying about what poll voters think, is righting the on-field performances.

The team has gotten blasted at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the football the last two games. Leaning on Leonard Fournette no longer is enough, and Brandon Harris hasn’t played well when the offense needs him to carry it.

Tough games remain at Ole Miss and vs. Texas A&M. Win both of those, finish the regular season 9-2 and the Tigers should be threatening a top 10 finish depending on the bowl outcome. Lose this weekend, though, and it’s possible LSU won’t even be ranked by the end of the season.
