Missouri is coming off a huge win in The Swamp last weekend and return home to face Vanderbilt this Saturday.

Here are the best and worst numbers for the Tigers heading into Week 9 of the college football season.

The Good

2: SEC wins. As bad as Missouri’s offense has been against conference opponents, the Tigers are still 2-1 in those games and very much alive in the SEC East race. But it certainly hasn’t been pretty.

224: all-purpose yards from Marcus Murphy. The senior do-it-all playmaker racked up a career-high 224 yards against the Gators last week. He scored three touchdowns, including two huge special teams scores. He’s Missouri’s most dynamic player right now.

4: non-offensive touchdowns scored by Missouri. Thanks to two defensive touchdowns — a pick-six by Darvin Ruise and a fumble return for TD by Markus Golden — and two special teams touchdowns by Murphy, the Tigers jumped out to a huge 42-0 lead in the third quarter of last week’s game. Who says you need an offense to win?

The Bad

20: passing yards. They may not have needed the offense to win last week, but the Tigers’ passing attack looked abysmal… again. This time, quarterback Maty Mauk passed for 20 yards all game. Ouch.

52.5: completion percentage. Mauk’s 52.5 completion percentage is not pretty and is the second-lowest completion percentage among qualified SEC quarterbacks. Against SEC opponents this season, he’s never completed higher than 42.9 percent of his passes.

6: sacks allowed by the offensive line in last three games. Missouri’s offensive line has struggled for much of the year in trying to protect Mauk. Last week, they only allowed one sack to a strong Gators pass rush, but that can be mostly attributed to the “conservative” offensive game plan head coach Gary Pinkel went with once Missouri was up big.
