Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson reclaim their spot in this week’s Criticizing Announcers feature. You may remember last week when Lundquist had a “new experience” with a PA guy in a headset during the weather delay of CBS’ Georgia-South Carolina telecast.

However, that pales in comparison to this gem that the CBS mainstays brought us in Week 4. During their coverage of Florida at Alabama, Lundquist and Danielson gave the answer to the trivia question: “Who was the last Florida starting quarterback to win at Alabama?”

The answer was Jesse Palmer. However, CBS took the opportunity to show another former Gator quarterback, Tim Tebow.

If you’re unfamiliar with the favoritism Lundquist and Danielson were accused of showing Tebow through the years, here’s some noted quotes from the duo relating to Florida’s golden boy:

“He’s the quarterback you most want your daughter to marry.”- Gary Danielson

“Tim Tebow is not only the greatest player I’ve ever seen play football, but more importantly, he may one of the greatest human being I’ve ever come across.”- Verne Lundquist

Which is basically every CBS telecast of Florida football between 2006-09 summed up in two quotes.

Lunquist and Danielson make light of the fact that people accuse them of “being in [Tebow’s] corner” during his career, yet sound like giddy little school girls over the fact that he’s on there screen.

I really don’t want to keep singling out CBS every week, but with examples like this, it’s going to be hard for anyone to dethrone our reigning champions.
