Every year at SEC Media Days the coaches make a big deal about how the media almost always gets it right when it comes to predicting the conference champion.

This season, though, it did get it right with the University of Alabama defeating Missouri in the championship game, 42-13. Since 1996 it was only the third time the media nailed it, joining LSU in 2007 and Florida in 2008.

The previous four times Alabama was tabbed as the league’s team to beat (2000, 2010, 2011 and 2013) it failed to win its division.

The media also got the best player correct, as Crimson Tide wide receiver Amari Cooper led all vote-getters with 282. However, he edged teammate T.J. Yeldon (281) and Georgia running back Todd Gurley (280), neither of whom ended up being a first-team All-SEC selection.

Here’s a look back at the media voting for All-SEC this season, with the preseason selection and vote total in the first column, and the postseason selection if it was someone different at that position. At the end is the predicted order of finish compared to the final standings.
