Four-star defensive end Shameik Blackshear, arrested for larceny in February after signing with South Carolina, has been cleared of any wrongdoing per coach Steve Spurrier.

Three witnesses said they saw Blackshear exit a home in Bluffton, S.C. on Feb. 7 after allegedly stealing property valued at $1,390 according to a Bluffton Police Department report, but Blackshear denied being at the house.

“From what we understand, he was innocent all the way,” Spurrier told to the Island Packet. “Unless something comes up differently. We had heard that they would drop the charges.

“As far as I know, he is clear to come with the rest of the team. He was falsely accused.”

Blackshear, once a five-star prospect before tearing his ACL as a senior, is expected to enroll at South Carolina in June with several other freshmen recruits.
