The Gamecocks experienced a big letdown on Monday as one of their top commitments for the Class of 2016 will not be signing with the team.

According to 247Sports, four-star running back Tyren Jones won’t be in Columbia due to academic issues.

Jones, who recorded 224 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns as a freshman at Alabama, was dismissed from the program in March after being arrested on marijuana possession charges.

The 5-foot-8, 202-pounder out of Marietta, Ga., who was among the top running backs in the Class of 2013 out of high school, spent his 2015 season at Hutchinson Community College this past season.
