Ole Miss played the only 2016 SEC spring game not to be featured on TV. It wasn’t because Hugh Freeze’s squad was trying to keep the Rebels offense a secret, but because Ole Miss is in the middle of renovations at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

ESPN Radio’s Brad Logan recently stopped by the stadium and snapped a photo of the progress that has been made.

The north end zone, once complete, will be the Rebels’ new student section. The expanded north end zone will allow Ole Miss to allot more than 10,000 student tickets, up from 8,100 in the current south end zone arrangement. Overall capacity at Vaught-Hemingway will increase from 60,580 to 64,038.

All portions of the renovation, including new video boards and a natural grass field, are expected to be ready for the 2016 season.

Be sure to check out our feature on another renovated stadium, the former Citrus Bowl in Orlando, which will host Ole Miss on Sept. 5 in the season opener against Florida State. The Rebels’ home opener will be Sept. 10 against Wofford.
