Texas A&M reaches into Florida’s IMG Academy and lands a commitment from what could be its first of two commitments from IMG in as many days, as linebacker Santino Marchiol pledged to the Aggies Tuesday.

The 6-foot-2, 222-pound Marchiol is currently rated as a four-star linebacker, the No. 14 inside linebacker in the nation and the No. 195 overall prospect in the nation, according to 247Sports. Marchiol currently holds scholarship offers from many of the nation’s top programs including Florida, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Florida State, Ohio State, Stanford and UCLA among others.

“At Texas A&M, I felt like it was the only place where they wanted me to be the first to commit but they never pressured me into it like these other places,” Marchiol said according to Taylor Hamm of 247Sports. “I had a great relationship with everyone there, the players and the coaches.

“It really just fell into place when I sat down with coach (John) Chavis, who is a historical legend in the SEC. He’s put the most linebackers in the NFL which is crazy. Having an opportunity to play for him and a staff like that in the SEC, in College Station, it doesn’t really get any better.”

Marchiol could arrive as early as December to College Station, as the linebacker is expected to be an early enrollee.

Of course the big name out of IMG Academy that both A&M and Auburn are waiting to hear from is quarterback Kellen Mond. Mond is rated as one of the nation’s top dual-threat quarterbacks and is uncommitted following his decommitment from Baylor after head coach Art Briles was let go in Waco.

Mond has visited both Auburn and College Station in recent weeks and is expected to announce his decision soon. Adding to the drama, Mond tweeted this out Tuesday – a day before his birthday:
