Heading into the season, LSU senior Lewis Neal may be the team’s best all-around returning defender, but his accomplishments off the field far exceed anything he’s done on the field to this point.

In a feature column written by Ross Dellenger of The Advocate, Neal’s off the field highlights were chronicled by the Louisiana-based paper. Among the accomplishments of the self described 21-year-old entrepreneur: successful trader on the foreign exchange, hair salon co-owner, phone app creator and now community outreach activist.

According to Neal, his Baton Rouge hair salon will be giving out free haircuts to all military and first responders, including law enforcement and firefighters – and their families – as his show of appreciation for their work in the community.

“I just wanted to do something positive for the community, just give back and show our appreciation,” Neal said. “We want to have some positive things going around. There’s so much negativity going around. You need some positive things going viral.”

It’s safe to say LSU has found an exemplary athlete to represent the university for the 2016 season in Lewis Neal.
