If you take a quick glance at Mississippi State’s 2016 season, one game should immediately stand out to you – the road trip to UMass. Considering the Minutemen have only been an FCS-level program for four seasons, this will be the first time the former MAC school, now an independent, will be “hosting” an SEC program.

Of course the game will be played in Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots, and will provide the SEC West school with some rare exposure in the northeastern section of the country.

Thursday, the school announced the Sept. 24 road game will kickoff at 2:30 p.m. CT/3:30 p.m. ET. The game will be the first meeting between the two schools.

Thankfully for the Bulldogs, the game was scheduled early enough in the season to avoid the bitter cold the northeast corner of the country is known for.
