While preparing earnestly for its season opener against a talented UCLA team next week, Texas A&M is also doing some serious work off of the field.

The Aggies received their second commitment of the day — as 2017 prospect Jayden Peevy pledged his services to Kevin Sumlin’s program. He chose Texas A&M over offers from the likes of Baylor, Houston, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.

At 6-foot-7, 280 pounds, Peevy stars on both sides of the ball. The 3-star 247 prospect has the size one simply can’t teach. Peevy’s gigantic and lengthy frame will enable him to put on both weight in the future. Dually, his versatility as both a defensive lineman and as an offensive tackles offers Texas A&M plenty of flexibility.

Perhaps most notable is Peevy’s length. His long wingspan gives him an advantage when trying to bat down balls at the line of scrimmage. If lined up as a tackle, his lateral agility and arm length helps to ward off talented pass rushers off the edge.

Like fellow Friday pledge Tyree Johnson, Peevy’s best football is truly ahead of himself. He’ll need to gain strength in order to combat the rigors of college football. With that said, his upside is both immense and undeniable.
