Tennessee is 2-0, but the Volunteers have been outscored 21-3 in the first quarter in two games this season.

Playing from behind is difficult and coach Butch Jones would like the Vols to come out strong early in games from now on, according to a GoVolsXtra story:

“I am very, very disappointed with our start. I think that is something that this football team has to improve upon,” Jones said during a news conference on Monday at the Ray & Lucy Hand Digital Studio. “We have to start faster. We will do some different things to try to manufacture that like we do every week in practice.”

Jones added that Tennessee will work hard on having a proper mental approach in this weekend’s game against Ohio:

“First of all, you have to deem it important. It is all in your approach,” Jones said. “Obviously that is going to be deemed very important and we have talked about it all year. We have to start fast and we have to finish strong. We do have some start fast periods in practice and we will probably do more of those.”

Tennessee and Ohio will square off at noon Eastern time and can be seen on the SEC Network.
