Auburn’s promising season went down the drain quickly following the injury to starting quarterback Sean White. Looking to avoid a similar situation at the position in 2017, the Tigers are hosting a very important visitor Tuesday – former Baylor quarterback Jarrett Stidham.

The former Big 12 quarterback was one of the most coveted prospects in the nation in 2015, rating as the No. 2  dual-threat player at the position that season. In Stidham’s only season in Waco (2015), the freshman threw for 1,265 yards, 12 touchdowns and only two interceptions in mostly a reserve role. Following the dismissal of head coach Art Briles, Stidham left the program and enrolled in a Texas junior college. While enrolled at a junior college, he did not play JUCO football this season.

Now seeking to get back into major college football, Stidham is being actively recruited by Auburn, Texas A&M, and Florida, among others. Looking to get another feel for the Auburn campus, the free agent quarterback posted a tweet showing off his location Tuesday morning:

If Auburn were to land Stidham, it’s not hard to see him earning the starting job immediately heading into the 2017 season. After sitting out the 2016 season, Stidham is eligible to play in 2017 and has three seasons of eligibility wherever he lands.

Stidham is expected to announce his commitment to his next school in the coming weeks. His decision could very well shape the landscape of the SEC next season, as he would likely represent a major upgrade at the position in Auburn, College Station and Gainesville.
