At 6-foot-3 and 291 pounds, Jonathan Allen has the size NFL teams want in their defensive linemen, and the former Alabama star’s college resume speaks for itself.

The reigning Bednarik and Nagurski trophy winner did 21 reps of 225 pounds during Saturday’s bench press at the NFL Scouting Combine and followed that up on Sunday with an impressive run of 5.00 seconds in the 40-yard dash:

Already considered by many to be the No. 1 overall interior defensive lineman in the draft, Allen has done nothing but improve his stock with his on-field performances in Indianapolis.

According to NFL.com, one thing that may scare teams away from the college star is the fact that he has mild arthritis in both of his shoulders. However, Allen said he’s not worried about that just yet:

“The shoulder feels good. Every doctor said if there’s a problem, it’s after football, way after football. I have no concerns with it at all,” Allen said at the NFL Scouting Combine. “… They said I have some arthritis in my left shoulder. It’s not really a problem now, but it might be a problem 15, 20 years down the road so I’m not worried about that right now. I’m worried about playing good for whichever team I go to.”

Though Texas A&M DE Myles Garrett is the favorite to go No. 1 overall, Allen is in the mix to be a top-five pick. So far this weekend, he’s done nothing to hurt that standing.
