While players from across the country perform in front of potential future employers at the NFL Combine this weekend, there is one notable absence which has earned a share of the spotlight.

Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster, one of the leaders of the team’s vaunted defense, was sent home from this year’s Combine after getting into an argument with a hospital worker while waiting for medical evaluations. Foster is among the top defensive players in this draft class and a player likely to hear his name called early on draft night.

His dismissal from the Combine left many confused and was certainly not a good look for the veteran linebacker. On Sunday, Foster, through his agent, sent a statement to all 32 NFL teams apologizing for the incident, according to the NFL Network broadcast of the Combine.

“In part, he apologizes for what he calls ‘a misunderstanding’ here at the combine,” the NFL Network’s Kim Jones said on air Sunday afternoon. “He said he does realize and understand that being invited here is both a privilege and honor.”

Foster’s statement included his desire to participate in the event as a little kid and his disappointment that the incident occurred. He then offered an invitation that teams will likely be interested in.

“He wants to invite teams to meet with him Tuesday, March 7th, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the linebacker room at the University of Alabama,” Jones read aloud. “Very, very specific instructions there. And he says that would allow him to make up for the meetings missed.”

Alabama’s Pro Day will be held on March 8, so Foster is inviting teams to meet with him a day prior in an intimate setting to presumably answer any and all questions that teams may have. It’s a proactive move from Foster, and one that he is undoubtedly hoping will help put the incident behind him.
