Already ruled out for the spring, Florida junior quarterback Luke Del Rio will be going under the knife yet again. This time, it’s his throwing shoulder that will be getting worked on.

“Luke’s going in tomorrow to get his other shoulder cleaned out,” McElwain revealed during his Tuesday spring press conference. McElwain, later during the press conference, described the procedure as ‘going in to clean it up’ the quarterback’s throwing shoulder.

“Here’s the good thing, we are going in and fixing him right,” McElwain said. “He’ll be fine, this is not major.”

The Florida coach strongly implied this procedure should not limit Del Rio in the fall.

Del Rio had surgery on his left (non-throwing) shoulder earlier this offseason, which is why he was already scheduled to miss spring practice. In Del Rio’s absence this spring, the bulk of the quarterback snaps are being given to redshirt freshmen Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask in Gainesville.

Del Rio also missed several games last season after injuring his knee against North Texas.
