Missouri’s Black & Gold Game on Saturday gave fans the opportunity to see the Tigers back in action on the football field. A few fans, however, received the chance to become more than spectators.

During an early stopping point in the scrimmage, four fans lined up to race sophomore defensive back DeMarkus Acy on the field. Surprisingly, Acy, who reportedly runs the 40-yard dash in 4.42 seconds, didn’t emerge as the winner.

Now, this competition comes with a major caveat: Acy had to cover about seven more yards than those he was racing against. If all competitors started at the same point, Acy would have won the race easily, but the fan nearest the sideline might have kept it close.

While ultimately nothing more than a fun sideshow during the scrimmage, this was a creative way to get fans involved and provide some entertainment for the Missouri faithful.

Who knows, maybe Barry Odom will have a chat with the kid in the gray hoodie.
