The Pittsburgh Steelers now have two of the most high-profile players to play under coach Butch Jones: Antonio Brown (Central Michigan) and Josh Dobbs (Tennessee).

On a conference call with Tennessee media, Dobbs joked about how many times he heard the former Central Michigan coach talk about Brown, one of his former players.

“More times there were days in those four years,” Dobbs said.

While no one expects Dobbs to beat out Ben Roethlisberger for the starting job, it’s exciting for any quarterback, even a backup, to get to play with Brown, who has established himself as one of the NFL’s best wide receivers over the past six seasons.

“Of course, Coach Jones coached A.B., so they’ve had a great relationship,” Dobbs said. “They go up to Steeler games whenever we’re on an off week, so it’ll definitely be great to meet the man that Coach Jones has been hyping. But I know it’ll be an honor to meet him, and of course his play really speaks for itself.

“To be a part of that offense with such potent weapons, A.B. being one of ‘em, it’s definitely gonna be exciting to get on the field with them.”

If Dobbs sees playing time with the first-team offense (he was pick No. 135 after all, same as Dak Prescott a year ago), he’ll be surrounded by elite players like Brown and Le’Veon Bell.

“Yeah. You’re definitely surrounded by a great roster full of guys there,” Dobbs said. “You’ve got A.B., you’ve got Le’Veon, you’ve got several guys in the receiver corps, and I know they’ve picked up a couple more guys, as well. I’m excited to be a part of it. There’s definitely a great group of people — not only players, but also the organization that surrounds the Steelers franchise.

“To be a part of that and to be another piece in that puzzle is definitely an honor.”
