After Leonard Fournette had been hampered by injuries last season, the onus to carry the LSU offense fell on Derrius Guice’s shoulders. Safe to say, the sophomore running back took that opportunity and ran with it. Now heading into third, and likely last season in Baton Rouge, Guice is expected to be the centerpiece of new offensive coordinator Matt Canada’s offense.

Last season, in essentially only eight games of action, Guice tore into opposing defenses and ended up leading the SEC in rushing with 1,387 yards. Now eager to prove he can shoulder the load for an entire campaign, Guice got a new tattoo that shows off his ‘Savage’ mentality.

It will be interesting to see if Guice can follow up his dynamic debut and achieve similar, if not better, production with defenses now knowing what’s coming for them. Judging by his lone season of production after being thrust into the national spotlight, Guice should be more than up to the task at hand.
