Despite the negative publicity gained from its ongoing NCAA case, which returned to the public arena this week, the Ole Miss football program is currently on a tear on the recruiting trail as Hugh Freeze’s program has landed its fifth pledge toward the 2018 class over the last 16 days. The most recent commitment comes from 2018 defensive lineman Allen Love of Birmingham, Ala.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound Love is rated as a three-star prospect, the No. 57 defensive tackle in the nation and the No. 29 overall recruit from the state of Alabama according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Love chose to commit to Ole Miss over scholarship offers from Louisville, Kentucky, NC State, Memphis, UCF among several others.

Love announced his commitment with this video, produced by AL.com:

The Rebels now have seven total 2018 commitments pledged to play in Oxford, five of which are defensive linemen. Those numbers should help alleviate the issues the defense has had stopping the run, as the Landsharks gave up over 246 rushing yards per game last season.

Love’s junior season highlight reel shows off both his pass rushing and run stuffing ability. Should he be able to provide similar duties for the Rebels, he could prove to be one of the gems of the 2018 recruiting class.
