South Carolina appears to have added a late edition to its roster as in-state 2017 three-star receiver Austin Connor took to Twitter to announce his will head to Columbia to continue his playing and academic career.

The 6-foot, 180-pound Connor was rated as a three-star prospect in the latest recruiting cycle by 247Sports. The South Carolina native received scholarship offers from Georgia, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Duke, Virginia Tech, as well as a few Ivy League schools coming out of Dutch Fork last season. It’s unclear why he didn’t sign with a school on National Signing Day but according to Tony Morrell of The Big Spur, Connor intends to walk on at South Carolina.

Here’s the statement Connor released Tuesday, with the caption “sorry for the delay,” early afternoon announcing his decision to head to South Carolina.

South Carolina added only two true wide receivers to its 2017 recruiting class, OrTre Smith and Chad Terrell, which should give Connor ample opportunity to make a contribution to the team in the near future. If he impresses during his first year on campus, it wouldn’t be hard to imagine him gaining a scholarship before long.
