The offseason is no stranger to poor judgment and bad behavior as that trend looks to continue in Columbia following the reported arrest of junior defensive lineman Nate Howard by campus police on drug charges.

According to 93.9 The Eagle, the St. Louis native has been arrested on campus and was taken to jail for possessing a controlled substance.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Howard has registered 15 tackles and half a sack in his two seasons in Columbia. He appeared in four games last season after seeing minimal action as a true freshman in 2015. The was a three-star recruit coming out of high school in the 2015 recruiting cycle. Howard signed with Mizzou over scholarship offers from Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa and Syracuse among others.

It will be interesting to see how head coach Barry Odom handles the situation moving forward. Mizzou currently has eight total upperclassmen defensive lineman on the roster heading into the 2017 season.

Update: Missouri has since confirmed the arrest and has announced Howard’s indefinite suspension.
