One of the assistants who helped develop Deshaun Watson at Clemson is the favorite to land the job at Ole Miss, according to one online sportsbook.

Betonline.ag has odds on 16 potential coaches for Ole Miss, with current SMU coach Chad Morris as the favorite at +300. Morris is 7-17 in two seasons with the Mustangs, but it’s his resume as the former offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Clemson (2011-14) which would make him an attractive candidate for the Rebels job. Morris is the architect behind Clemson’s offense, now run by offensive coordinator Jeff Scott and co-coordinator Tony Elliott, and had a hand in recruiting the 2015 and 2016 Tigers national championship teams. Morris’ dedicated effort in recruiting Watson is widely considered the reason the Gainesville, Ga. product chose to go Clemson.

If Ole Miss wants a head coach with an up-tempo offense, Morris will likely be a candidate. Betonline also has odds for 15 other coaches, including current interim coach Matt Luke and former SEC head coaches Derek Dooley, Les Miles, Lane Kiffin and Bobby Petrino.

Earlier today, Bookmaker.eu unveiled much different odds, with Luke the favorite among named candidates (+250), but a -400 field option. If the Rebels seek Morris, it could be the right timing. Some in the media have said he left Clemson too early, and would have a Power 5 coaching job right now if he had stayed onboard for the Tigers’ recent playoff runs.
