Johnny Manziel and Tim Tebow have a few things in common as former Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks who (so far) haven’t been able to make it in the NFL.

In addition to broadcasting on the SEC Network, Tebow has returned to baseball, a sport he had not played since college. In a Periscope interview with Manziel, radio host Clay Travis wanted to know if Manziel might follow in Tebow’s footsteps and give baseball another try any time soon.

“I talk to the San Diego Padres, the team who drafted me, a little bit.  I have a good friend who’s in the minor leagues with the [Texas] Rangers,” he told Travis.

The Padres drafted Manziel in the 28th round of the 2014 draft.

For now, however, the former Aggie is focused on getting another opportunity on the gridiron.

“If I get to a point where I’m not able to play football or anything like that and I feel I can still go make a run at it – maybe.  But for now, I’m going to leave that to Tebow.”
