A familiar face has returned to Tuscaloosa to join Nick Saban’s coaching staff.

According to 247Sports, former Alabama RB Glen Coffee has been working with the Crimson Tide running backs as a student assistant so far during fall camp.

After an attempted NFL comeback, Coffee — who spent a few years in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper after retiring from the NFL the first time — is back at Alabama to finish his degree.

While he’s working in the classroom, though, he’ll also be dipping his feet in the world of coaching, as he’ll try to help mould the Crimson Tide running backs and share his experience this summer.

Coffee was a first-team All-SEC player back in 2008 and spent the 2009 season with the San Francisco 49ers before retiring at the start of the 2010 season. He then joined the U.S. Army in 2013.
