The LSU Tigers are still waiting for the final member of their 2017 recruiting class to join the team.

According to coach Ed Orgeron, 4-star DT Tyler Shelvin has yet to take the practice field for the Tigers this summer, as he awaits his academic clearance from the NCAA clearinghouse.

Coach O told reporters after Wednesday’s practice that he believes a decision could come within a week:

According to 247Sports, Shelvin was the No. 4 defensive tackle in the class of 2017 and the No. 1 overall recruit from the state of Louisiana.

The Tigers’ 2017 recruiting class was ranked No. 3 in the SEC and No. 7 nationally by 247Sports. Adding Shelvin to the mix for this fall would only help LSU’s defense as it prepares to make a run at an SEC West title.
