LSU took a hit at the quarterback position on Monday morning when redshirt freshman QB Lindsey Scott Jr. announced that he was transferring from the program.

Scott was behind starter Danny Etling on the depth chart and was competing for a backup spot with true freshmen Myles Brennan and Lowell Narcisse and sophomore Justin McMillan.

After news of Scott’s decision broke, LSU coach Ed Orgeron addressed the redshirt freshman’s decision.

According to a statement from Orgeron released by LSU on Monday morning, the Tigers wish Scott the best as he continues his college career:

“I had a very good talk with Lindsey this morning and we talked about his future,” Coach O’s statement reads. “He is a great young man from a great family. We wish him all the best in the future.”

Scott was a 3-star recruit coming out of Zachary High School in Louisiana. He has not announced where he’ll play next, but if he transfers to another Division I program, he’ll have to sit out the 2017 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
