Ed Orgeron gives latest on LSU QB competition after Danny Etling's strong scrimmage performance
A week after being out-played by freshman Myles Brennan, incumbent starter Danny Etling turned in the most impressive among the LSU quarterbacks.
Ed Orgeron told media members Saturday that Etling was 13-of-22 for 168 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. On the opening drive, Etling threw a 57-yard touchdown pass to D.J. Chark. Brennan went 10-of-20 for one touchdown and one interception. Lowell Narcisse was 0-for-2 passing, but did record a rushing touchdown.
Throughout the offseason, Orgeron has said that Etling would be the starter if he were naming one that day, but Brennan would get a fair shot at winning the job. It appears that the LSU coach is close to finally naming a starter.
