The Tennessee Volunteers got some bad news this week when it was determined that starting LB Darrin Kirkland Jr. would miss the entire 2017 season.

On Sunday, more bad news broke, as it was revealed that the Vols could be without another starter on Monday night against Georgia Tech.

According to 247Sports, redshirt sophomore LB Austin Smith sustained a knee injury during practice this week and may not be able to take the field in Atlanta tomorrow night.

Smith was the potential starter at the strong-side linebacker spot, but now that’s in jeopardy based on Sunday’s news.

Monday night’s game is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. Eastern time at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium and can be seen on ESPN.
