LSU had been flirting with disaster in regards to penalties all season long, but on Saturday night at Mississippi State, flags ruined any chance the Tigers had at winning.

While racking up nine penalties for a whopping 112 yards, the Tigers also had two touchdowns called back and had two players ejected.

Without those negatives, LSU may have won, or at least kept the game a lot closer than 37-7. Moving forward, playing cleaner football will be a huge focus for the Tigers.

To that end, coach Ed Orgeron invited some referees to Tuesday’s practice, clearly with the hope of cleaning things up before Saturday’s game against Syracuse:

LSU hosts Syracuse in a non-conference matchup on Saturday night in Baton Rouge. Though the Tigers can probably pick up a win even with a bunch of penalties, it’ll be interesting to see if they can’t keep their penalty totals down.

Saturday’s game at Death Valley starts at 7 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on ESPN2.
