It’s no secret that Arkansas would potentially be interested in Auburn coach Gus Malzahn if Bret Bielema is fired, as speculation has been running rampant about that for a while now.

On Thursday, ESPN analyst Booger McFarland joined Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly to discuss the Malzahn-to-Arkansas rumors.

As you can hear in the clip below, McFarland says he wouldn’t be surprised if Malzahn, who has a long history in the state of Arkansas, winds up with the Razorbacks:

“Gus Malzahn, from what I’ve heard, he wants to be in Arkansas,” McFarland said. “I think he wants to rekindle the magic from when he was there in high school and all that. I get it. To me, it’s going to be a domino effect, and the dominos are really two people — it’s Chip Kelly and it’s Dan Mullen.

“When those two dominos fall, then everybody will start moving from there. I think those are the two biggest pawns on the table. Once they move, everyone else will adjust off that.”

Obviously, Malzahn’s biggest worry right now is the Iron Bowl, as a win in that game would keep the Tigers alive in the College Football Playoff hunt.

However, this offseason could be very interesting for the Auburn coach.
