The Kentucky passing game took a big hit over the weekend when starting TE C.J. Conrad went out with a foot injury.

He was spotted after the game wearing a boot and using crutches, so it was always unlikely he was going to be able to play against Louisville this weekend.

On Monday, coach Mark Stoops confirmed that Conrad was out for the next game. He added that the junior tight end would have surgery on Tuesday:

Conrad made 16 catches this season, recording 286 yards and four touchdowns. The 6-5 junior was one of the Wildcats’ best red-zone targets, so he will be missed.

At 7-4, the Wildcats already have a bowl game clinched, even if they fall to the Cardinals this weekend. However, moving forward, we’ll have to wait and see if he can come back in time for a bowl, whenever it may be.
