Ole Miss players show their support for Matt Luke on Twitter
The Ole Miss Rebels ended their season on a high note on Thursday night, taking down rival Mississippi State 31-28 in the Egg Bowl.
It was interim coach Matt Luke’s finest moment at the helm of the Ole Miss program, and he made a strong case for landing the full-time coaching job.
In fact, the Rebels want him back. After chanting “We want Luke” in the postgame locker room, several players took to Twitter to share similar sentiments about the interim coach:

Even with the players behind Luke, Ole Miss will likely undergo a nationwide coaching search, targeting other big-name candidates.
However, Luke’s best bet is that his players’ support causes the administration to give him the full-time job, much like Ed Orgeron at LSU last year.
For now, though, Luke and the Rebels will play the waiting game as the coaching search continues.
