Matt Luke’s performance this year has earned him the full-time head coaching position at Ole Miss.

Luke has been hired as the full-time head coach of the Rebels after serving as the interim coach this season, and the details of his contract were announced on Monday. He has signed a four-year deal with Ole Miss that contains a number of potential bonuses.

Fans were not initially thrilled with the hire, but Ole Miss AD Ross Bjork remains confident that Luke is the right man for the job. Alex Scarborough with ESPN shared Bjork’s comments on the hiring process.

Bjork indicated he interviewed eight candidates for the position and used a search firm before deciding to make Luke the full-time coach. He believes Luke’s mindset and attitude are exactly what the Rebels need right now and believes it is evident that the players believe in Luke.

It remains to be seen how Luke performs in the full-time job, but it should be noted that he led the team to a 6-6 season and finished off the year with an upset of in-state rival Mississippi State.
