The crazy search for a new head coach at Tennessee has come to an end.

It was announced Thursday that Alabama DC Jeremy Pruitt has agreed to terms on a deal and is the next head coach of the Volunteers. This will be his first shot at a head coaching job in college, but he has experience as a DC at Florida State, Georgia, and Alabama.

Pruitt looks to be a solid hire and will look to turn around a team that won four games in 2017. It will be an interesting challenge for Pruitt but his hiring should excite a fanbase following an abysmal year.

A few Vols players took to Twitter with the news, and it looks like they are excited to have Pruitt in Knoxville:

Vols QB Jarrett Guarantano and WR Tyler Byrd also shared an interesting exchange following the news. Byrd is interested in switching to DB which is of note because Pruitt was a DB as a player and has served as a DB coach at various stops.

Jacob Copeland, a four-star WR recruit out of Florida, responded to the hiring and praised Pruitt as one of the “realist” coaches he has met:
