When the Kentucky Wildcats take on the Northwestern Wildcats in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 29, they’ll do so without a senior offensive lineman.

According to reporter Jen Smith, coach Mark Stoops said on Saturday that senior Nick Haynes was no longer with the team.

The Kentucky coach reportedly said Haynes is taking a “mutual separation” with the team so he can focus on some health issues he’s facing:

Haynes started six games earlier this season, but has been used in a reserve role for most of the second half of the year.

He ripped the team on Twitter earlier this year when he was left out of the tweets from the official account recognizing the seniors for their contributions.

Whether that incident had anything to do with Saturday’s decision is unclear, but for now, the Wildcats will move on without him as they prepare for the Music City Bowl.
