Darrell Dickey had been with the Memphis Tigers as their offensive coordinator since 2012, but earlier this week, he took the same position at Texas A&M.

Now working under coach Jimbo Fisher, Dickey will be tasked with turning the Aggies into an offensive juggernaut like he did at Memphis.

On Thursday, Dickey spoke with the Memphis Commercial Appeal, explaining his decision to leave the Tigers to head to College Station:

“It was just a situation I felt like in this time of my career I needed to take it,” Dickey said Thursday morning in a telephone interview while on the road recruiting for Texas A&M. “It was the right time for me, and the right place for me, to move on.”

The Texas A&M offense has some nice pieces coming back next year, including QBs Nick Starkel and Kellen Mond.

Neither has the track record of Riley Ferguson, who Dickey coached at Memphis this year, but it will indeed be interesting to see how he fares in 2018.
