The Missouri Tigers have yet to name a replacement for former OC Josh Heupel, who recently left the program to become UCF’s head coach.

On Saturday, though, a leading candidate for the position — former UCLA OC Jedd Fisch — was in Columbia to observe the Tigers’ bowl practice, according to STLToday.com.

However, Mizzou coach Barry Odom said after the practice session that he doesn’t want to make a hire until the Tigers are done with their Texas Bowl game against the Texas Longhorns:

“I don’t want to move before the bowl game,” he said. “I’m interviewing guys every day between now and then to make sure we get the right fit for who we need and what the program needs. There’s a lot of guys that are interested in the position both in-house and out-of-house. I’m very confident we’ll find a great one to go lead us into many years to come. I don’t want to rush into it, but also the urgency to find someone to get them in place is important as well.”

The Tigers will have a lot of intriguing options for the position, so it’ll be interesting to see who eventually lands the job.

Fisch has some experience working with talented quarterbacks, though, so he could be a good fit to work with Lock. UCLA’s quarterback, Josh Rosen, is being projected by some as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
