When starting QB Jacob Eason went down with a leg injury in Week 1, true freshman Jake Fromm stepped into the starting role and hasn’t looked back, leading the Georgia Bulldogs all the way to the National Championship Game.

He’s been especially calm and collected in the biggest moments, an impressive trait for a young quarterback. That has certainly caught the attention of former star Georgia QB David Greene.

During an appearance on WJOX’s “The Opening Drive” on Thursday, Greene said he’s loved watching Fromm handle big-time situations all year long:

“This kid has made some incredible throws for us in some pressure-packed situations. There were a couple throws on that last drive he had to make,” Greene said of Fromm. “I can’t remember if it was third and 10 or fourth and 10, but he had a crossing route. If he didn’t make that pass, the game’s over and made a block on the last play. He’s just played unbelievable all season long, a great competitor. You can tell, and the thing I love about watching him play, you can tell failure has never crossed his mind. It’s fun to watch really any athlete compete when there’s just not a lick of fear in them. They just love to go out there and compete.

“He’s been the perfect quarterback for what we need. A guy that goes out there, he makes plays when they present themselves but he’s not pressing. He’s not turning the ball over and you can tell he’s a great leader because the other players love playing for him.”

Fromm still has one major challenge ahead of him, but if he plays like he has all year, the Bulldogs should have a chance to pull off a win in the National Championship Game on Monday night.
