The Auburn Tigers added a key piece to their 2018 recruiting class on Wednesday night, picking up a commitment from an in-state defensive back.

3-star CB Roger McCreary, an Alabama native, announced he was committing to the Tigers via Twitter.

McCreary, who announced his decision in the tweet below, also had offers from ACC schools like Duke and NC State, but chose to head to The Plains instead:

According to the 247Sports composite, McCreary is the No. 53 cornerback in the class of 2018 and the No. 18 overall recruit from the state of Alabama.

Auburn now has eight hard commits in addition to the 15 players who signed early. The class ranks No. 3 in the SEC and No. 9 nationally, per 247Sports.
