Even though the confetti fell a little prematurely, the Auburn Tigers did manage to clinch their first SEC title since 1999 with a big home victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday afternoon.

The Gamecocks made a run after the confetti delay, but the Tigers ultimately held on for a 79-70 victory.

Thanks to the efforts of G Bryce Brown, the Tigers managed to snap a two-game losing streak, as Brown made seven three-pointers while leading all scorers with 29 points. South Carolina’s Frank Booker had an impressive 24 points, but it wasn’t quite enough to keep the Gamecocks from falling.

Jared Harper had 18 points, Mustapha Heron added 12 and Horace Spencer chipped in with 11 for the Tigers in the win.

The Tigers now have at least a share of the SEC title, as the Tennessee Volunteers still have a chance to split the championship if they beat Georgia on Saturday night.

Even if that happens, it’s a big win for Auburn, as the Tigers did clinch the No. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament.
