Jimbo Fisher’s first staff at Texas A&M continues to grow, this time at the expense of an in-state rival.

The Aggies have a new director of player personnel as Eric Russell has decided to leave TCU to come work in College Station, according to Stefan Stevenson of the Star-Telegram. Interestingly enough, the Horned Frogs plan to replace Russell with fired Mizzou defensive coordinator DeMontie Cross. Since his firing, Mizzou’s defense hasn’t improved much under Barry Odom’s direction.

Russell served as TCU’s director of player personnel for three seasons. He also has experience coaching at Washington State and Tennessee — at both programs, he was a special teams coach. Prior to those jobs, he worked at Louisiana Tech and North Texas. Those ties could serve him well as the Aggies will recruit both states extensively under Fisher.
